I had the first serious clickbomber attack on a wordpress blog’s adsense ads last week. Somebody clicked on an adsense ad 120 times in less than an hour. I guess something good does come out of checking your adsense revenue for the day every hour or so. In 47 minutes, I went from zero clicks on one site to 120. Google didn’t credit me anything for it. Google probably detected it was from the same ip address. I did my best to determine the offender and blocked his ip address. As a safety measure, I turned off all ads for a few days. It’s nice when almost all your adsense ads are controlled by a wordpress plugin. Just deactivate it and voila – no more ads.
Well, hopefully Google doesn’t penalize me for the random acts of stupidity of others.
