There are posts all over the internet on how to make money on your blog. So I figured why don’t I join the fray? There are many ways to earn money off of your blog. I’ll focus on one today – develop a customer/subscriber email list. I go about this on my own websites in two fashions.

1 – I offer viewers the opportunity to sign up for my email list right on my website or blog. You can further encourage people to sign up by including a link after a compelling entry on your blog. For example – Do you want more information on how to make money on your blog? Then sign up for my email list to receive notifications for further information on how to make money on your blog. Insert sign up box here. You’ll have a few people sign up for your email list through this method.

2 – Another method for growing your email list is to post examples of your e-newsletter on your blog or website so that people can see that it is a valuable publication. With your newsletter include something like – like what you see then sign up below. Insert sign up box here.

3 – If you sell a digital product then indicate that as part of the product the buyer will receive a free subscription to your monthly e-newsletter. With each paid order, add the customer to your email list. If you do this, just make sure that the customer has an easy way to unsubscribe if they decide they don’t want your e-newsletter.

My current email list has almost 3500 subscribers. I hope to have it at about 5000 by the end of 2008. How does having an email list generate money? Think about it. If I include a promotion where I can upsell my past customers on another product for $20, how much money will I make if I can get 1% of 5000 subscribers to buy? $1000 – not bad for sending out an email. With each percentage increase, I make another $1000. That’s just one example of how you can make money from an email list. I’ll explore more in a related post.
