Driver workflow

Compliance support is built into each stage of the trip

The app collects the operational facts used by dispatch, applies server-side TLC assignment checks for in-scope NYC pickups, and keeps the verified active job visible during movement.

Maintain driver documents

The driver profile stores DMV and TLC numbers, expiration dates, and license attachments. Vehicle profiles can include a TLC window sticker and expiration.

Set working availability

Drivers control their online schedule. Location can continue in the background while online within that schedule or while an assigned job is active.

Accept the assignment

The driver accepts an offered job before driving mode begins. Identity and tenant checks prevent a driver from confirming another driver’s assignment.

Pass the TLC assignment gate

For an in-scope NYC pickup, the server checks current driver, vehicle, base affiliation, expiration, WAV eligibility, and recorded passenger-time limits.

Advance the active trip

Large status actions guide the driver through on the way, on location, passenger on board, stops, final destination, and dropped off.

Create report-ready facts

Actual on-scene, pickup, and drop-off times and locations feed the base’s trip record preparation and audit trail.

The server creates a point-in-time TLC assignment snapshot and limits trip-event updates to the verified assigned driver. Operational details are then presented inside the active job instead of requiring the driver to search across the app.

Driver identity and documents

DMV and TLC numbers, expirations, and attachments are maintained with the driver profile.

Selected vehicle check

The selected assigned vehicle, plate, official TLC status, expiration, and affiliated base are checked for an in-scope assignment.

WAV eligibility

A wheelchair-accessible trip requires a vehicle identified as accessible in the official TLC vehicle record.

Passenger-time gate

Recorded passenger time is checked against 10 hours in a rolling 24-hour period and 60 hours Monday through Sunday.

Verified assignment snapshot

Driver, vehicle, plate, dispatching base, affiliated base, and verification facts travel with the reservation.

Actual trip milestones

The server records actual on-scene, pickup, and drop-off event times and locations from the assigned driver workflow.

Roadside information

While stopped, the active job can show the trip record, base, driver, vehicle, WAV, verification, and document checklist.

In-motion focus

Movement locks the app to the in-progress TLC job, removes global navigation, and closes auxiliary panels.

Current in-motion behavior

A reduced active-trip interface replaces ordinary app navigation

Driving mode begins only when the current build detects movement during an in-progress job that contains TLC assignment data. A fresh native speed signal is used when available, with consecutive GPS samples as a fallback. It engages at about 4 mph (1.8 m/s), uses a lower stop threshold to prevent flicker, and releases after the vehicle has remained below the movement threshold for about seven seconds.

Assignment acceptance happens before this mode. While moving, the main available action is the large control that advances the already-active trip. It does not offer a new trip for acceptance.

Active-trip essentials

  • Primary trip-progress action: advance through on the way, on location, passenger on board, stops, destination, and dropped off.
  • Active trip facts: read status, schedule, company, extras, selected vehicle, next point, passenger details, and special notes.
  • Map: load the active-trip map, switch map/card size, and use zoom controls.
  • Trip locations: open the pickup, stops, and destination list for the active job.
  • Passenger contact: call and message shortcuts remain present.
  • Exceptions: the early-end or special-event action remains available when the trip state offers it.
Hidden or blocked while moving

Everything outside the active job

  • Global navigation: the bottom bar, other tabs, other jobs, component navigation, and restored view history.
  • Exit paths: Back, close-job, and Android hardware-back actions.
  • Navigation requests: notification and deep-link routes that would leave the active job.
  • Trip reset: the reset-status control is removed.
  • Auxiliary actions: arrival-message shortcut, meet-and-greet, company help, and flight-detail opening.
  • Roadside overlay: TLC roadside information is closed and hidden until the vehicle is stopped.

Mounted-device and safe-use responsibility remains with the driver and base. A visible shortcut is not permission to type, browse, or hold a device while moving. Calls, messages, maps, and exception actions must be used only in a manner permitted by current TLC rules and other applicable law. Stop safely when an interaction cannot be completed by a permitted voice or one-touch operation.

Responsibility boundary

Software controls support compliance; they do not certify it

E-BookNow can enforce facts it receives and trips it records. The licensed base and driver remain responsible for complete, current information and every TLC obligation outside that boundary.

Cross-base passenger time

The fatigue gate totals E-BookNow-recorded trips. Drivers and bases must account for passenger time worked through other bases or systems.

Physical documents

The roadside screen is a convenience record. It does not replace any physical or officially issued license, registration, insurance, or other required document.

Monthly submission

E-BookNow prepares recorded trip facts for review. The licensed base still reconciles all required trips, submits them through TLC’s current process, and completes the required affirmation.

Safe device operation

The base and driver must provide a properly mounted device and follow the current voice or one-touch restrictions whenever the vehicle is moving.

Current licenses and policies

Drivers, vehicles, bases, insurance, accessibility procedures, privacy practices, rates, and operating policies remain the licensed base’s responsibility.
